STEAMhouse, powered by Birmingham City University is a unique new space for interdisciplinary collaborations between creatives, technicians, academics, business specialists and SMEs. We believe two heads are always better than one, and by creating an environment and culture in which SMEs freely engage and knowledge share with a diverse support network, you’ll discover innovative solutions to grow your business (or even get your idea off the ground.)

How can STEAMhouse help your business journey?

We can help you plan it

Do you have an idea for a product or service but you’re unsure on how to get started? We can help you create an action plan to turn your dream into a reality. How? If you come along to STEAMhouse, you’ll be able to get free business support from our experts and attend our STEAM workshops, including STEAMlabs, in which you’ll meet fellow innovators and potential collaborators, build new relationships and access trusted advice.

We can help you fund it

STEAMhouse offers eligible SMEs access to grants and funding to help you bring your product to market, including the possibility of qualifying for a grant worth up to £2,500 to fund materials for early stage prototypes.

We can help you commercialise it

STEAMhouse hopes to be with you throughout your business journey, especially by being part of the important task of bringing your product to market. We want to help you make your business a success and that’s why the STEAMhouse team will continue to support you in accessing free business support and workshops. Not only that, but you’ll have the opportunity to continue to network and build relationships with other SME’s and creatives who have been or are on a similar journey to yourself. We hope by networking and sharing knowledge with peers, you’ll be exposed to new ways of thinking and inspired with ideas on how to take your business to the next level.

Why create STEAMhouse and who is behind it?

Birmingham City University is proud to power STEAMhouse, providing the region with an exciting new concept that is much more than just a makerspace. The European Regional Development Fund and Arts Council England fund the STEAMhouse project, with the intention of driving innovation and research to create business solutions that fuel long term economic growth.
