Accessing a steady stream of creative and technically-skilled talent can be tricky for any business. Join us for Innovation Fest as we open the doors to Birmingham City University’s Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment. Allowing you to engage and learn from the students and their innovative projects on show in the final day of our Innovation Fest programme. 

What is Innovation Fest?
Innovation Fest is held in May, offering businesses the opportunity to experience the creative talent emerging from Birmingham City University’s faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment. You’ll get to engage and learn from Birmingham City University students working on  business-linked projects aimed at developing digital and technology-based prototypes addressing industry challenges, utilising the latest research, innovation and facilities.

The final days of Innovation Fest invites you to attend a guided tour of the festival, meet with the student exhibitors and learn more about the industry projects featured on the show floor.

This year’s event will be of the first big events to be hosted in our brand new STEAMhouse building, our new Innovation Centre bringing together businesses, entrepreneurs, and academics with state-of-the-art facilities and creative opportunities for real collaboration

How can businesses benefit from Innovation Fest?

  • Access to employable graduating students who will be showcasing their project ideas.
  • Learn from live projects in collaboration with industry, which could support your business objectives.
  • Engage and network with students, mentors and fellow businesses in your industry.
  • Discover future talent, technologies and processes for your business that you can apply.

The format of the event will include:

  • 09:00-10.30: Breakfast networking meeting to find out how your business can engage with the faculty, meet academics, the innovation and enterprise team, and discover the collaborative opportunities available.
  • 10.30-11.30: A tour of the new STEAMhouse building and student projects.
  • 11.30 onwards: Optional opportunity to conduct on site interviews for roles. The Careers+ team can support with promoting placement/internship/graduate positions you have and coordinating interviews with interested students and graduates.
